Thursday of the 22nd Week in Ordinary Time
Colossians 1:9-14 / Luke 5:1-11

What is your dream? Is it to win the lottery and never have to work again? Is it to be the best at your job? Perhaps you want to make your family proud? Or is it finding the perfect husband or wife?

One last question: if you ever achieved your life's dream, would give it up easily? This is what happened to Peter.

In today’s Gospel Jesus calls Peter to follow Him after a miraculous catch of fish.

Peter was a fisherman by trade and was probably good at it...he even owned his boat! I think it is not wrong to imagine that he desired to make a “dream” catch of fish; one that would be remembered for life!

Then, Jesus comes into his life and changes everything! The son of a carpenter, tells the professional fisherman where and when to throw the nets…and against all odds, in the most unexpected moment, Peter sees his dream come true!

And just then...Jesus calls him to leave everything behind!

So today, I think we can learn from Peter that nothing in the world, no money, no success, no achievement or persons should keep us away from Jesus.

Finding Him is the greatest joy of all!

Have a blessed day!
